It should be no surprise to learn that Kenan Thompson is a fan of Nintendo. We’ve seen Kenan pop up in a number of ads for the Switch in recent years, and we also know Nintendo really likes to work with celebrities who already have an affinity for what they do. That makes Kenan and Nintendo a perfect pairing, as the actor/comedian has been a Big N fan for decades now.

In an interview with Variety, Thompson opened up about being a lifelong Nintendo fan that continues to enjoy the company’s offerings on Switch. Even better, he gets to do some Switch gaming alongside his daughters as well, and they have a couple of games that are their go-tos. You can see Thompson’s comments on Nintendo fandom and the Switch below.

“I’m an ‘OG’ Nintendo player. Nintendo games have been like my sidekick on set all these years. I can easily pick up Nintendo Switch and play during downtime. It’s also sparked some creativity for me on the show; hint hint, I was Bowser!

I get to play on the Nintendo Switch when I’m on set or at home with my girls. It’s such a great way to relax and have fun. We definitely started out with ‘Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’ — that was the perfect game to get started with — especially since my older daughter is super competitive. She thinks she can beat me, but come on — I’ve got decades of ‘Mario Kart’ experience under my belt.”

I’m in the Mario and Luigi fan club, so I usually go with one of them. Luigi is surprisingly fast sometimes. And of course, if one of the girls snags them I will go with Funky Kong, because I’ve played with him and he’s awesome! So underrated!

We also love to play ‘Super Mario Bros. Wonder.‘ That is just crazy cool to play and very visually exciting, which they love. When Mario turns into an elephant, it’s hysterical and we have so much fun with it!”
